UNDER RENOVATION
1600 West English Road
HIGH POINT , NORTH CAROLINA. • WEST END DISTRICT
A FAMILY LEGACY BROUGHT BACK TO LIFE
"Both of these buildings have been in our family for generations. The larger one at 1600 W. English Road was developed by my great-aunt Ruth Jarrell in the 1940s, and it sat largely vacant for years. Renovating it isn't a deal — it's a return.
When Oakdale Commercial Properties was launched, the West End was still treated as an afterthought — an old industrial corridor west of downtown that the city had moved past. But the Cohab Space campus across the street changed what was possible here, and we wanted to be part of what comes next, not what came before.
The two-floor structure at 1600 will house Oakdale's offices. The single-story block building beside it will either be leased to the right tenant or used by the firm for storage.
Our general contractor is AJ Builders of High Point, and we've worked to salvage as much of the original masonry as the framing allows — new HVAC, roof, electrical, plumbing, but the bones stay."
If you're looking for space in High Point that means something — to a neighborhood, to a city, and to the people working inside it — we'd like to hear from you.
